Getting back in the Groove

Here it is almost April and I am just getting back into the groove. The babies were born on December 22, and we moved into our new home on Feb 15…so late winter was completly crazy for our family. I am starting to see the end of the seemingly endless unpacking, and now that the babies are settling into a routine life is starting to slowly seem sane again.
I am hoping to get back to my clay real soon, but I am still having issues with my wrists and pending the results of some tests in late April I will know if I need surgery or not. So that may put my caning abilities on hold for a bit longer.
Heres a pic of my new additions..and I will hopefully see you all soon!

HI Everyone!
I know it has been a while since I posted, but ther is good reason. For those of you who don’t know, I am pregnant and expecting twins in January! It has been a complex pregnancy with numerous issues I wont get into, but I am having trouble with pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome ..which means claying has had to be put on the back burner for the time being as it is just too painful right now. I hope that once the babies arrive and we settle into a routine I will be able to crank up the pasta machine and get back to creating which I miss so very much. Until then I may not be around too much, as typing is another painful activity at the moment.
Hope to see you all soon with new goodies to show off!

Can you believe it is July already? Seems like the summer is set to fly by! My first major craft show of the year is behind me, and was fairly successful..hello to everyone who stopps by that I met last weekend! The weather was wonderful even if a little too windy for our displays but it was not blistering hot so all was well. I even survived my very first camping trip, pregnant with twins and all! I have bragging rights for a while as I also lit my very first campfire! I have pictures I will upload soon….yes I did indeed take a picture of my fire..I was quite pleased with myself!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Independance day!
May is Cystic Fibrosis awareness month

About 2 years ago I stumbled across the online blog of a girl who has cystic fibrosis. She received a double lung transplant in June of 05, and a second transplant in the fal of 06 to replace one lung. Recently she was diagnosed with chronic rejection, and placed on hospice care as there is nothing else they can do for her. She is only 21 years old. I found her story so compelling. Someone so young having so much strength and courage, it was truly an inspiration to me, and I created this:
The color for CF is purple, and it is sometimes called ‘65 Roses’ as little children cannot say Cystic Fibrosis. I plan to sell these pins at upcoming fairs and also will have them on etsy. All proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Also this month Dunkin Donuts is selling sneakers to write your name on for a dollar also as a fundraiser for CF. Please visit the CFF site to learn more and find ways you can help.
Also please keep Stephanie in your thoughts and prayers.

I have already proclaimed my love for
etsy, but now I would like to focus on one seller,
Squirrelette, aka Susan Lilly. Susan has become one of the
Claychicks best customers, and we absoloutly adore what she does with our raw canes. She assembles the flowers into wonderful focal beads and bead sets. Not only does she have a wonderful sense of color and style, but the finish work on these beads is exquisite! This is one of my personal favorites from her current listings in her shop. It features lovely bright flowers created by
Elaine, and leaves by yours truly.
I do love to see what people create with the canes we sell in the
Chicks Boutique, and it is even better when you see that someone has made something so wonderful. Susan..you rock!

etsy oh how I love thee! I can spend a long time browsing through the creative goodies that people all over the world have for sale. For those of you not in the know, etsy is a site where you can buy ‘all things handmade’. Not only can you find the coolest sock monkeys I have ever seen, but everything from amigurimi apples to zebra laptop sleeves and everything in-between. The fun is that there are many ways to search the site including looking by color, location, and my personal favorite the time machine. Take a look around, but be warned it can become one of those black holes that eats up your free time.
Is it finally spring?

We have finally gotten out of the nasty rainy and stormy weather pattern that had a firm grip over New England for most of April, and sunny skies seem to have returned. My yard is still in winter dead mode, but bits of life have started to appear. My crocus have popped up, and the green from the bleeding hearts and columbine have broken ground. Until my own garden gets into full swing, I have to find pictures on the internet and in books to inspire the next batch of canes.
I saw this picture of an English cottage garden and decided to try to replicate the feel in flower canes. The result:
This weeks set on ebay. And forthcoming on etsy in a week or so, some sets with some of these newer flowers as well.
I was not quite done there..I had to make something, so i made a pin and bracelet tile set:

I have decided that the bracelet will be kept for me. It has some of my favorite things about the garden on it..my hydrangeas and dragonflies. So until things really start to bloom around here at least I can create a little bit of garden beauty in my toaster oven.
